Level 2 Chimney Inspections with Recommendations & Estimates
A level 2 inspection is a very comprehensive inspection that examines all accessible parts of the chimney both inside and out, top to bottom including attics, crawl spaces, and basements. During a level 2 inspection a camera is utilized to inspect the flue for any cracks, damage, or gaps in the flue tiles. Also, in the accessible areas being inspected, proper clearance to combustibles is checked thoroughly. A comprehensive inspection report with the photos that we take, and a breakdown of the chimney showing what is operational or not operational will be emailed to the customer along with an estimate for repairs broken down into individual line items. All inspections are done in accordance with the NFPA 211 standard, and “shall be inspected at least once a year for soundness, freedom from deposits, and correct clearances. Cleaning, maintenance, and repairs shall be done if necessary.

Chimney Repair
Preform All Chimney Repair/s That Are Recommended
(Only Exception Are Service/s Involving Chemicals)

• Chimney Caps & Chase Covers
Making sure you have a proper chimney cap and/or chase cover is very important to keeping your chimney operational. They protect your chimney from all types of weather, keep animals from getting inside, and help maintain proper airflow. We install custom stainless steel or copper caps and chase covers specifically designed to fit your chimney.

• Mortar Joints
Mortar joints keep your chimney together. With compromised mortar joints, water can enter not only the chimney but the bricks themselves and lead to substantial damage. This can cause bricks to spall (the face of the brick falling off which weakens them and leads to further water intrusion) and the overall weakening of your chimney stack. Deteriorated mortar joints are grinded out with and repointed with type S mortar giving them their strength back. The whole chimney can also be waterproofed which lets moisture out but not in.

Chimney Crowns
Chimney crowns, which are angled downwards for shedding water, play a pivotal role in protecting your chimney from water damage. A crown that has cracks, voids, or is deteriorated can lead to substantial water damage to your chimney and the interior of your home. If the damage to your crown is minor, further damage can be avoided by applying a flexible sealant. If the damage is more serious, then your crown would need to be rebuilt from scratch with mortar.

Smoke Chamber Parging
The smoke chamber is the area located above the firebox (shaped like an upside-down funnel), that aids the smoke being vented to move into the flue without back drafting. Also, unlike corbeled brick that causes creosote to gather, smooth smoke chamber walls allow the smoke to vent more efficiently, thus leaving behind less creosote. NFPA 211 code states that smoke chamber walls should be parged smooth. If your smoke chamber has cracks, voids, or corbeled bricks, it needs to be parged smooth with a specialized chamber safe insulated cement.

Utility Heater Chimney Relines &
   Fireplace Flue Resurfacing

A chimney flu is the non-combustible lining in the interior of the chimney that vents smoke, particles, and toxic gases. If the flue has any deterioration, voids, or cracks, it leaves your system susceptible to combustible materials, smoke, or gases escaping into your home. When it comes to utility chimneys, natural gas or oil appliances vent acidic condensation into your clay flue liner deteriorating it from the inside out leading to further damage to the chimney structure, and leave your flue susceptible to leakage into the home. We reline chimneys that vent gas appliances with aluminum liners, and chimneys that vent oil appliances with stainless steel liners making them not only safer but much more efficient. When it comes to chimneys that vent wood-burning fireplaces, stoves, and inserts, an operational flue is pivotal in preventing combustible materials from venting into your home and chimney fires. If a wood-burning chimney flue has cracks or voids, we resurface them, thus making them suitable for use again.

Firebox & Lintels
The inside of your fireplace where you burn fires is called the firebox. The firebrick and refractory mortar are built to handle very high temperatures, but over time they can still begin to crack and deteriorate. These cracks, voids, or gaps can release embers or hot gases into the walls surrounding your fireplace, and other living spaces, which can possibly cause a fire. We repair fireboxes and lintels with dry-mix refractory fireplace mortar, which is thermal shock resistant tested up to 2550 degrees Fahrenheit.

Flashing
The flashing is a thin, waterproof material (usually metal), that seals the gap between the roof and the chimney. Its function is for water to run off of it rather than seep into the attic and home. Damaged flashing can lead to rotted wood, mold, and the overall weakening of the roof around the chimney. We repair deteriorated, improper flashings with a flexible, elastomeric membrane that is painted on and sheds water.

Custom Colored Stucco & Masonry Repairs
We repair old, deteriorated and cracked stucco and also apply new stucco to your chimney. We attach galvanized laith wire mesh as a base and for some added strength, apply a “brown coat” of type S mortar, and can either apply stucco with a color of your choosing (colors limited to what stucco colors are available at the time), or can paint the brown coated chimney with any color masonry paint you want.

Foundation Repairs
Similarly to a stucco application, we can repair foundations with galvanized laith wire mesh, a brown coat of type S mortar, and either any color masonry paint of your choosing or stucco.

Dryer Vent Cleaning with Basic Vent Pipe Inspection
Similarly to our fireplace sweeping, we rotary-clean lint-filleddryer vents with a drill and button Lok poles, and inspect/repair (if necessary) the connections to your system. If need be, we run a camera through your dryer vent system to further inspect potential issues. Afterwards, we run a dryer cycle, and make sure that it is venting properly.
